Key Stage 3 – Introduction to Career Pathways

At Key Stage 3, pupils are introduced to the foundations of career education, helping them to develop an awareness of the world of work and the pathways available to them in the future.

Across Years 8–10, students explore key concepts such as employability skills, job roles, and the qualities needed to succeed in different careers. They gain an understanding of how the workplace is changing both locally in Northern Ireland and globally, including the impact of technology, trade, and migration. Pupils also investigate a range of job sectors and career opportunities, while developing the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions about their future pathways. This programme aims to build confidence, raise aspirations, and equip young people with the tools they need for lifelong career planning.
